Nappy.co is a Black-owned brand that looks to beautifully represent
Black people in the world of stock photos where people of color are severely and
even comically underrepresented. Nappy.co (https://www.nappy.co/)
provides beautiful, high-resolution images of Black people doing everyday things
such as running, walking, eating, hanging out, you name it. These images are free for download to modify distribute, and share, and photo credit is not required (but, highly
recommended).
The website is brand new with a small inventory of really great photos. Bound to be a major influence in the future. Great concept!!
As a photo buff, I'm a fan of John Mosley, who chronicled the Everyday life of Everyday Black folk when White photogs saw people of color as "exotic".
As sung so masterfully by the inimitable Sam Cooke, "It's been a long time coming but I know a change is gonna come, oh yes it will." And so it has. Control of our images commands control of our narrative, our collective consciousness narrative. We will definitely patronize this service.
